Did the style of riding using an English saddle change?

I learned to horse back ride using an English saddle. That was years ago, and I learned to sit up straight and ride with dignity. I was shocked a few months ago when I went for riding lessons. The instructor laid back in the English saddle when she posted. Yuck. She looked lazy and she thought I had a problem learning how to ride. Another instructor rode past me and said “Oh, she knows how to ride the old school way.” Have times changed? Do you think this new lazy style suits the English saddle?
