Piano Tuition Software for the Elderly
There are some of us who have nurtured a life-long ambition to play the piano. Some of us are retired and only now have the time and opportunity to actually get playing. I never learned as a child, then I grew up, started a family and spent all my working life supporting them. I’m not complaining, I enjoyed every minute of it. But at the back of my mind I always nurtured the desire to play the piano. I knew I’d be no
Fats Domino but I always thought I’d be able to do it.
I bought myself a brand new Yamaha Clavinova electric piano and a pile of books to work from. And you know what? It’s a lot more difficult than it looks. As we get older our fingers get stiffer and less flexible, as do our brains. I found this a great stumbling block to my progress. The most frustrating thing was to pick up a piece of music that I hadn’t heard before and try to play it without knowing what it’s supposed to sound like. Perhaps this is possible for a seasoned musician, but I found it very hard.
But then I had an epiphany. Someone told me about Rocket Piano, downloadable Piano Tuition Software that contains sound clips of all the exercises. It wasn’t expensive, so I thought I’d give it a try. Fantastic! As soon as I could see and hear the relationship between what was on the page and the actual music as it’s played, I was away! Since buying I’ve been playing every day and just getting better and better. I just can’t believe I wasted so much time before getting it.
