Some Spanish words are not of Indo-European origin

Although some Spanish words are not of Indo-European origin, most of them are.  Often, Spanish words are pronounced a little flatly by English speakers who do not know Spanish.  Many Spanish words are stressed on the second to last vowel, or group of vowels, but not all of them.  When Spanish words are pronounced properly, you will see that cat, vase, and plate are pronounced very similarly in Spanish.  In Rocket Spanish review a number of Spanish words are given a familiar label as well, indicating that these words are suitable for informal contexts but would not normally be used in formal writing or speaking.
