The United States military has a long history of tattooing. Many long ago sailors came home with a new tattoo from every port, as a record of where they’d been during their service. But, recently, the young men of the armed forces have begun getting larger and more elaborate tattoos as a memorial for fallen comrades. However, many are also being tattooed with their service numbers, the same information on their dog tags, in case they are lost in combat without identification. These memorial and identification tattoo pictures designs aren’t new, but they are more popular now than they have ever been.
